The famous Masai Mara region of Kenya in East Africa was our second safari destination following the Sabi Sands Reserve in South Africa. As its name implies, the region is famous for its native Masai warrior tribe, and also for the Mara River that annually becomes an obstacle in the path of the Great Migration.

Cheetahs are very difficult to spot, especially when the vegetation has started to leaf-out again in the early Spring. Our skilled guide from And Beyond, Kichwa Tembo Lodge spotted two resting under a tree, well hidden in the bush. Seeing them here, it’s hard to imagine that they are one of the fastest animals and skilled hunters on earth!
