Sabi Sands Reserve, South Africa, Leopard In the Grass
Thanks for viewing this image from my new African Safari series. To celebrate our 50th anniversary, Karen and I completed our first trip to Africa in September 2023. While there were many other things to do, the real purpose was to see and photograph the wildlife while on safari. Starting in South Africa at the Sabi Sands Reserve, we completed 3 days of twice-daily safari rides, and what an adventure! We had a great guide and tracker from our lodge, Simbambili, and most of the time, we had the safari vehicle from our lodge all to ourselves. In this same new series, you’ll find images of our 2 other safaris in the famous Masai Mara region of Tanzania, as well as the equally-famous Serengeti region of Kenya, where we witnessed the Great Migration. Prints on metal or canvas, available in 2x3 format, min 12x18”. -9364R

Young Elephant named "Dusty"
It is well known that African elements like to emerge from cooling off in a waterhole, and then begin slinging dust all over them with their trunk. This is thought to give them protection from the sun, which from the way it looks, you’d think would provide plenty of protection. But this is nature at work!

Rhino Reflection, Sabi Sands Reserve, South Africa
We encounter this white rhino at a small water hole on our 4th safari drive in Sabi Sands. Our guide from Simbambili Lodge explained that they had removed the rhino’s horn to discourage poaching…that this doesn’t harm the animal in any way.

Gardians of the Camargue, France Wild Horses
The “Gardians of the Camargue, France Wild Horses” features an ancient horse breed of unknown origin, except that they were first discovered in the same area where they still live and roam today…the marshes of the Rhône River delta in far southern France, an area known as Camargue. In all, there are probably a couple thousand horses that live there year round without shelter, just as they have for centuries. The French cowboys or “Gardians” are their caretakers, a brotherhood that was formed in 1500 to ensuring that the horses receive the proper care when needed. This image has an aspect ratio of 1:2, thus having a panoramic-style format, such as 24”h x 48” L, printed on gallery-wrapped canvas, or high-gloss metal. No frame required with either.

Casiana Alta, Province of Pisa, Tuscany, Italy
I discovered this beautiful village in the area where I was working in the Fall of 2019 as a “WWOOFer” in Italy, which means “Worldwide Opportunities in Organic Farming.” Put simply, I was doing volunteer work in exchange for room & board on a family farm. Before breakfast and the start of the daily grape harvest or other chores, I would quietly sneak away to discover picturesque landscapes in the area. This sunrise shot offered beautiful light to not only Casiana Alta, but also the Pisian Alps in the background, which run right along the west coast of northern Italy.
