"Cub Love," Masai Mara Lion Pride, part 1
"Cub Love," Masai Mara Lion Pride, part 1
The famous Masai Mara region of Kenya in East Africa was our second safari destination following the Sabi Sands Reserve in South Africa. As its name implies, the region is famous for its native Masai warrior tribe, and also for the Mara River that annually becomes an obstacle in the path of the Great Migration.
We were very fortunate to come up on a pride of lions one morning out in a clearing that included one male, 4-5 females, and two cubs. Our guide explained that in a pride, all of the females care for the young. Observing this female and cub showing their affection for one another lead us to believe that this was the cub’s mother. This entire show, and the interaction of the pride was breathtaking and something that I’ll not soon forget!
