It is well known that elephants love water, but once they are finished cooling off from the hot African sun, they will “dust” themselves by scooping up dirt with their trunk and throwing it on their backs. It is suspected that the dust and dirt helps protect their skin from the sun. This is exactly what this adolescent elephant did after emerging from the water.
